"How are you today?", "Did you find us easily?"

  • Tu perfil. Trayectoria, motivación y por qué este puesto.

  • Experiencia. Preguntas del tipo "Tell me about a time when...". Aquí cuentan los ejemplos concretos.

  • Condiciones. Sueldo, fecha de incorporación y preaviso.

  • Tus preguntas. Casi siempre te preguntarán si tienes alguna duda.

    1. Tell me about yourself.

"I'm a project manager with six years of experience in logistics. In Valencia I coordinate deliveries for three warehouses, and last year we cut delivery times by 20%. Now I'd like to work in a more international environment, which is why this role caught my eye."

    2. How would you describe your level of English?

"Upper-intermediate. I have the Cambridge B2 First and I use English every week with suppliers."
Consejo: nunca digas "my level is medium". "Medium" es una talla de camiseta. Se dice "intermediate".

    3. Why do you want to work here?

"I like that you work with small online shops, and I've spent the last four years helping exactly that kind of client."

    4. Why are you leaving your current job?

"I've learnt a lot there, but there's little room to grow into international projects, and this position offers exactly that."
Consejo: nunca hables mal de tu empresa actual.

    5. What are your strengths?

"I'm very organised. Last year I planned our move to a new warehouse without stopping deliveries for a single day."

    6. What is your biggest weakness?

"I used to find it hard to say no to extra tasks. Now I check my priorities with my manager every Monday."

    7. Where do you see yourself in five years?

"Leading a small team and being the go-to person for our biggest clients."

    8. Why should we hire you?

"You need someone who can work with suppliers in several countries from day one. I've done that for six years."

    9. Tell me about a difficult situation at work and how you handled it.

"A key supplier went bankrupt just before our busiest season (Situation). I had to replace them fast (Task). I tested two new suppliers in a week and split the orders between them (Action). We didn't lose a single order (Result)."

    10. Tell me about a mistake you made.

"I once sent a client the wrong price list. I called them that same morning, sent the correct one, and now a colleague double-checks prices before they go out."

    11. How do you handle pressure?

"I break the work into small steps and start with what matters most. That kept the team calm during our Black Friday peak."

    12. Describe a conflict with a colleague.

"A colleague and I disagreed about route planning. We tested both options for two weeks, hers was faster, so we went with it. We still work very well together."

    13. Tell me about a project you're proud of.

"Our new returns process. I spoke to 15 customers, redesigned it and complaints dropped by a third."

    14. How do you prioritise your work?

"Every morning I look at deadlines and impact. Urgent and important comes first, and I block time for focused work."

    15. What do you know about our company?

"You have offices in Madrid and Lisbon, and last year you launched your app in the UK."

    16. What are your salary expectations?

"Based on my experience and the market for this role, I'm looking for between 38,000 and 42,000 euros gross per year."

    17. When can you start?

"My notice period is 15 days, so I could start at the beginning of next month."

    18. How would your colleagues describe you?

"Probably as reliable and calm. When something goes wrong, people come to me first."

    19. Can you explain the gap in your CV?

"I took a year off to care for a family member. During that time I also did an online course in data analysis."

    20. Do you have any questions for us?

"Yes. What would success look like in this role after six months?" o "Who would I work with most?"
Consejo: lleva siempre al menos una pregunta. "No, thank you" suena a falta de interés.

    Diálogo para practicar

Léelo en voz alta. Luego tapa tus respuestas y dilas con tus propios datos:

  • Interviewer: Thanks for coming in. Did you find us easily?

  • You: Yes, no problem. The metro stops right outside.

  • Interviewer: Great. So, tell me a bit about yourself.

  • You: I'm a project manager in logistics with six years of experience.

  • Interviewer: What's your biggest achievement so far?

  • You: That's a good question. Let me think for a second... Probably our new returns process. Complaints dropped by a third.

  • Interviewer: And when could you start?

  • You: My notice period is 15 days, so at the beginning of next month.

  • That's a good question. Let me think for a second. (Buena pregunta, déjame pensarlo un momento.)

  • Sorry, could you repeat the question? (Perdona, ¿puedes repetir la pregunta?)

  • Just to make sure I understand: do you mean...? (Para asegurarme: ¿te refieres a...?)

  • What I mean is... (Lo que quiero decir es...)

  • Let me give you an example.

  • "Actually I work in Valencia." "Actually" significa "en realidad". Correcto: "I currently work in Valencia."

  • "I studied the career of Economics." "Career" es tu trayectoria profesional. Correcto: "I did a degree in Economics."

  • "I did my practices at a bank." Las prácticas son "an internship": "I did an internship at a bank."

  • "I assisted to a training course." "Assist" es ayudar. Asistir es "attend": "I attended a training course."

  • "Eventually I can travel." "Eventually" significa "al final, con el tiempo". Correcto: "I can travel if needed."

  • "I have five years working here." Calco de "llevo cinco años". Correcto: "I've been working here for five years."

  • "I'm very sensible to feedback." "Sensible" en inglés es "sensato". Mejor: "I take feedback seriously."

  • La "e" delante de la "s". "I estudied in Espain" se nota enseguida.

En inglés da siempre la cifra anual en bruto: "I'm looking for 40,000 euros gross per year." Si hace falta: "That's paid in 14 instalments." El neto mensual solo genera confusión.

  • Preaviso. Si es corto, úsalo a tu favor: "My notice period is two weeks, so I could start quite soon."

  • Contrato.

    FAQ

Casi siempre: "Tell me about yourself", "Why do you want to work here?", tus puntos fuertes y débiles, alguna pregunta que pide un ejemplo de tu experiencia y, al final, "Do you have any questions for us?".

¿Qué pasa si mi inglés no es perfecto?

Nada grave.
